It is often dark out when Chuck Peterson rolls up to the parking lot at Dustless Technologies. The rest of the production team is arriving, all with many products to build, orders ready to be packed and prepared for shipment – each employee has their tasks. Chuck, always there, always ready, heads past the assembly line towards the station at the back of the warehouse, a table and chair surrounded by motors and motor parts. He wastes no time getting to work. Chuck is the motor man – he builds nearly every motor that the company produces. Millions of dollars worth of orders and thousands of customers rely on this one man to make sure that they receive a working vacuum – and he breathes life into them.
This isn’t Chuck’s first day on the job though; neither is it his second, nor third. Chuck Peterson has been doing this job for nearly 20 years.
From Japan to Price, Utah
Chuck’s father was stationed across the world with the Air Force, so their family often moved around a lot. Chuck was born in Japan and would later return, graduating high school in Okinawa. Chuck spoke fondly of living in Japan. When asked what he thought of the food, he mentioned that he mostly stayed on base and didn’t much venture out. Later he laughed and remarked, “I’m a meat and potatoes type of guy”.
Chuck calls Provo, Utah his home. “That’s where my grandmother lived”, he said. Chuck would return to Utah after graduation and choose it as his home.
Chuck soon found himself just down the canyon from Provo in a little town called Price. Around this time he married his wife, Virginia. In 2000, Chuck found a job with the Love-Less Ash Company, the parent company of Dustless Technologies. He started when the company was much smaller and in the colloquially termed “old building”.
A Man On A Mission
Chuck mentioned that “back then, [you] did a bit of everything because [the company] was smaller”. Every employee wore many hats, from helping with taking orders, to building products, to shipping them out. He was involved in it all, taking a company yet in its infancy and working to make it bigger.
I keep on asking… I come to work and do what I really need to do… I know what I need to do and I know what I need to fill up.– Chuck Peterson
Chuck does his job well and says of his work ethic, “all day long I’m just pestering Paul a little bit” for more tasks to accomplish. Colleen Loveless, CEO, stated that “he’s very dedicated, very punctual, very on time.” His supervisor, Mike, echoed this sentiment, “I think he’s a great guy… very valuable and I appreciate him. He’s an asset to us.” People remark on his friendliness, frequently stating how kind he is to them.
When He’s Not On The Job
When he comes home from work at night, Chuck enjoys the company of this wife Virginia and their daughter Lilly. Chuck likes to keep his evenings simple – he is an avid reader of military history and science fiction. Additionally he is a collector of items from Star Wars, Star Trek, and other science fiction books and films. Every evening Chuck walks his dog around the neighborhood.
Chuck also is a ride enthusiast. He mentioned that his favorite vacation is to Disneyland, stating “I like all the rides”.
A little secret about Chuck is his golfing ability. A coworker stated that Chuck “has played a lot of golf” and is a natural golfer.
Chuck is one of our many employees, who we all appreciate. Thank you Chuck!
